The NGIAtlantic.eu project has ended in February 2023. For the follow-up initiative, visit NGI Transoceanic.

The NGIatlantic.eu Open calls are open to all EU or US experimental platforms:

  1. FED4FIRE+ and 5G-PPP, among others.
  2. US - NSF’s Wired and Wireless funded programs, such as ENTeR / GENI, FABRIC, and Future Cloud Platform, Platforms for Advanced Wireless Research (PAWR), US Ignite, and dedicated US-EU Internet Core & Edge (ICE-T) programmes, among others.

In this section you can find more details about some of the platforms to be exploited.

Patras5g platform

The Patras5G facility

An end-to-end experimentation facility of the 5G PPP

- EU

The Patras 5G facility is operated by the Network and Management Architecture Group, of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, at the

POWDER_platform

The POWDER Platform

the the end-to-end Platform for Open Wireless Data-driven Experimental Research

- US

The main goal of the NGIatlantic.eu Open Calls is to incentivize EU – US NGI teams to carry out experiments using EU and/or US based experimental platforms. The POWDER Platform (the Platform for Open Wireless Data-driven Experimental Research) is a facility for experimentation where researchers can carry out real-world experimentation on next-generation wireless networking in a city-scale “living laboratory”.

The COSMOS platform

The COSMOS platform

at-scale experimentation of novel advanced wireless broadband in dense urban environment

- US

The main goal of the NGIatlantic.eu Open Calls is to incentivize EU – US NGI teams to carry out experiments using EU and/or US based experimental platforms. An example of these types of platforms is COSMOS (“Cloud enhanced Open Software defined MObile wireless testbed for city-Scale deployment”), a project aimed at design, development and deployment of an advanced wireless city-scale testbed in order to support real-world experimentation on next-generation wireless technologies and applications.

The 30-months project NGIatlantic.eu will push the Next Generation Internet a step further by providing cascade funding to EU-based researchers and innovators in carrying out Next Generation Internet related experiments in collaboration with US research teams.
